Terms of use

1. Purpose

Clean & Sober is a peer support space for people recovering from an addiction (alcohol, drugs, medication, gambling, tobacco or other). These terms govern the use of the website clean-sober.org. By creating an account, you accept them.

2. What the website is not

Clean & Sober does not replace medical advice, treatment or follow-up by a health professional. The stories and advice shared by members reflect their personal experience. Never change a treatment without a doctor's advice: stopping some substances abruptly can be dangerous. In an emergency, see the Need help now? page.

3. Sign-up and account

  • Sign-up is reserved for people aged at least [18].
  • You agree to provide a valid e-mail address and to keep your password confidential. You are responsible for the use of your account.
  • You can use a pseudonym: nothing requires you to reveal your identity to other members.

4. Community rules

So that everyone feels safe, we ask you to:

  • stay kind: no judgment, mockery, insults or harassment;
  • respect everyone's journey, including relapses, which are part of recovery;
  • respect other people's anonymity: never reveal a member's identity, contact details or private words;
  • not present medical advice as certainties;
  • not encourage use, nor offer, sell or seek to obtain substances;
  • not publish illegal, violent, hateful or pornographic content, nor advertising.

5. Moderation

Every member can report content or block another member. The website team can remove content that breaks these rules and, depending on the seriousness, warn, suspend or delete an account. If a message suggests that someone is in immediate danger, the team may contact them.

6. Your content

You remain the owner of what you publish and are responsible for it. You allow the website to display it according to the visibility settings you choose. Your private journal entries are only visible to you.

7. Availability

The website is offered [free of charge]. We do our best to keep it available, but it may be interrupted, in particular for maintenance, without entitling anyone to compensation.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your profile or by writing to contact@clean-sober.org. What happens to your data is described in the privacy policy.

9. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. In the event of a significant change, members are informed by e-mail or on the website.

10. Applicable law

These terms are governed by French law. In case of difficulty, please contact us first: we will look for an amicable solution.
